Braids to release 12” & announce Montreal show

news

After having released their critically acclaimed debut Native Speaker in 2011, Braids have returned with a new 12" single In Kind // Amends. Out June 11th on Flemish Eye Records in Canada, the 12" features two singles from their forthcoming sophomore album, as well as two exclusive B-sides. The first song Amends is now streaming on YouTube and at Pitchfork. Keep an eye out for their second full-length album, dut out Fall 2013.

The 12" opener In Kind captures the peak of the group's songwriting in their four piece incarnation. Written live, it is a layered and emotionally raw saga. The first single Amends is a strong contrast, and shows the group's exploration into electronic and dance music. Filling out the 12" are two exclusive tracks that explore the textured and atmospheric side of the band – the subtly percussive Near Enough and the mesmerizing A Dawn in Me.

Braids is also announcing a string of small shows to support the release of the 12". The band plays a show in their hometown of Montreal at the legendary Casa Del Popolo on release date; then they head to Toronto and NYC.

BRAIDS ON TOUR

06/13 Toronto, ON // Arbutus Showcase - NXNE
06/15 Brooklyn, NY // Cameo Gallery - Northside Festival

Montreal rock band Dead Messenger presents their second album, titled Recharger, now available in stores. Recorded by the band and mixed by Aaron Holmberg, who works at the Tragically Hip owned Bathouse Recording Studio and who has worked with notorious producers such as Bob Rock (Metallica) and Adam Kasper (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), the album is rougher around the edges than first record Love is The Only Weapon.

Be sure not to miss the album launch show at l'Esco, in Montreal, on Thursday, February 21st and in Quebec City at Scanner, on Friday, March 15th.

Formed in 2005, Dead Messenger established a solid reputation on the local Montreal rock scene. Following the 2009 release of Love Is The Only Weapon (recorded at Breakglass Studios by Jace Lasek), the band played at CMW, NXNE, Pitter Patter Fest, SMIM and the GAMIQ. They have shared the stage with bands such as C'mon, Bionic, Priestess, Danko Jones, Aids Wolf, The Figgs, Duchess Says, Hollerado and many more. The band consists of Roger White (lead vocals, guitar), Ted Yates (lead guitar, vocals), Alex Chavel (bass) and Charlton Snow (drums).
